We have a vacancy for a Librarian interested in joining our Primary Library team in a Part Time capacity (2 days per week on Mondays & Fridays) to commence September 2025. The hours will be on a Monday, 7.15am - 3.00pm and on a Friday, 7.15am to 12.00pm.
We are looking for a creative, motivated and enthusiastic Librarian who would relish the opportunity to join our innovative team.
The key requirements of the role are:
- Recent experience of working in a Primary School setting
- The ability to work creatively and be open to new ideas and proactive in implementing projects
- Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build positive relationships and a positive can-do attitude
- To engage with children in library borrow / skills and curriculum time to encourage them to enjoy reading and develop their reading skills
- To support the Accelerated Reader Programme – feedback relevant information to teachers
- The ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing and demanding environment
- To support the management of the library – including the issuance, stock control (according to budget) and cataloging of books
- A passion for reading and ideally some knowledge of children’s literature
- The confidence and skills to be able to instruct groups of young people
- The ability to be proactive in the day to day running of the library, including before School and during breaks and lunchtimes
Candidates should have GCSE’s, Secondary School Leavers certificate or equivalent and be under spouse’s sponsorship. Any previous experience of working within a library and/or with children is desirable.
